Gov. Edgar Chatto said increased agricultural production is best gift on his birthday as Office of the Provincial Agriculture as well as Farmers’ groups greeted him at the 18th Ubi Festival opening this afternoon at the Island City Mall Activity Center.
This after pronouncements of Department of Agriculture on Bohol agricultural production making up 70% of Central Visayas production.
The governor also challenged farmers for production, for ubi most especially to become portrait of love for Bohol.
Acting Vice Governor Benjie Arcamo welcomed guests and agri workers at the opening program for the festival, which guests included DA Operations Chief Engr. Eugene Cahiles, Agriculture Committee chair Board Member Abel Damalerio, ATI Dir. Dr. Carol Daquio, Mayors Pureza Veloso-Chatto and Miriam Sumaylo.
The program culminated with a binignit eating contest.
The festival will hold ubi contests, ubi exhibit contest, pinaka contests, literary musical, cooking, workshop on ubi production technology. The festival will close on Thursday afternoon at the Plaza Rizal, where the booths are.
